Mount Baker

Story

It is winter, and as a one-year resident in Canada, it is my duty to go “up the hill”, as they say here, every weekend. Well, at least, it’s a duty I’ve given myself for my time being here :)

So this Sunday, I thought it would be cool to check out Cypress Mountain, the biggest resort near to Vancouver. It’s about a 30 minutes drive from door to door, with astounding views on the way.

Once you get to the top (and weather permitting) you are absolutely speechless. The mountain offers views at almost 360 degrees. We were lucky enough that the skies cleared out completely on that day, to allow us to see as far as the US, with Mount Baker in Washington State!

I’m looking forward to checking out this active volcano which summits at just 10,778 feet (3,285 m). Driving down to the US next week so should be able to get a closer look :)
