Roller Derby
Last Saturday we went for a game of Roller Derby at the PNE Forum, in Vancouver.
I don’t think any of us (non-Canadians) knew what to expect from this event, and I must admit it was actually pretty surprising.
Andrew’s description of the rollerderby was something along the lines of ‘girls in hot pants racing each other around a track’. May I just say, that sums it up pretty well.
It takes about 20 mins to get used to and understand the rules, but once that adaptation time has passed, you really start to get into it. Those girls certainly are into it, and show no mercy when skating around that rink.
I highly suggest watching one of these events if you get a chance, as it’s highly entertaining, pretty cheap (less than $20…), and nothing like you’ve seen before!
