Chambéry

Story

Today is Easter Sunday, and not the greatest day to travel in France! As it’s a bank holiday, public transport is limited.

As I’m making my way from La Clusaz to Grenoble, I have a 2h stop in Chambéry, so I’ve decided to take this opportunity to go around the city, like a tourist, in my own country ;)

Chambéry isn’t meant to be the nicest town in France, but I still think it’s pretty authentic. It has a really nice small old town centre, with typical pedestrian narrow streets and old town houses.

And of course, since it is at the foot of the Alps, you can pretty much look up in any direction and see the mountains, as featured in this shot.

Next stop – Grenoble, train in 45 mins, just enough time to sip a nice cup of french coffee and a crêpe au Nutella. Miam :)

  1. Herr Steenson Says:

I agree. At the end of the last ski trip to France, me and the guy I was travelling with mis-calculated the time to get to he airport via train and so had to get a taxi from Chambery (excuse the lack of accent) to Grenoble. It was a stunning journey from the mountains into the lowlands – €150 though, ouch!
