Streets of Rouen

Story

Today was our tour of Rouen, nice little town about 100km west of Paris, in Normandy. It is famous for its cathedral and churches, as well as for the execution of Joan of Arc, killed by burning on 30 May 1431.

It is also famous for these houses which are made out of wood and filling. They are a standard in the area and even though they are known not to be too stable some of them date back from the Middle Ages.

Rouen is a nice city to spend the day in, walking around, visiting the cathedral and surrounding churches. One thing that struck me is how cheap Rouen is compared to Paris. It’s probably a nice place to go to if you are fed up with Paris and want to spend a day in the suburbs.
