If there is one thing one might need to be aware of in Varanasi is the amount of hassle a tourist will get walking around the city.

Yesterday, we must have been asked about 20 times each where we were from, what our names were, and if we wanted to buy: silk, hashish, postcards, have a massage, take a boat tour, go up a building for a better view, etc. etc.

As we’ve gotten used to say here: sketchy sketchy! If you come to Varanasi, don’t trust anyone but the kids under 5 years old, who are simply interested in having a picture taken of themselves. And they’re not interested in money!
