Perito Moreno
We got to Calafate yesterday, after a 3 hour bus ride from Puerto Natales.
Calafate is a small city located on Lago Argentino, next to the Glaciers National Park.
The highlight of Calafate is its massive glacier, featured on this photo, called Perito Moreno.
It´s not the first glacier we see on this trip but it is truly the most impressive one, or as Charles would say, it is highly inspiring.
You can hear the glacier cracking while it moves, as if it´s alive. It is in constant change, and there are regular chunks of ice falling out from it.
This picture was taken from the lake at the bottom of the glacier. We took a boat trip which placed us about 200 meters away from it. It´s difficult to see the scale of the glacier on this picture, but it is about 60-100 meters high, which means when a chunk falls off, it creates a mini-tsunami on the lake!
