Parque Forestal Magallanes
Today we did our hike to the National Park, close to Punta Arenas, to get a better views of the Straight of Magellan, the Andes, and the city.
After having been quoted 10000 Pesos each (GBP12) by a tourist office to get a lift to the Park, we decided to take our chances by hitch-hiking our way there, which worked out well, as we barely waited and all we had to pay was a short Taxi ride of 400 Pesos each!
The Park was nice, we did a couple of tracks, one of which gave this view from a Mirador. It did start to snow though (after over 25 degrees in Valparaiso 48 hours ago!) which was pretty cool. We saw a few animals but we´re still waiting to catch a glimpse of a Puma…
Oh and yeah, the sun is pretty intense here in this part of the World, due to the hole in the ozone layer, so good solar protection is needed! To give you an idea, the UV index was 11 today, when it normally doesn´t reach more than 6 in Europe!!!
