Punta Arenas

Story

We´ve arrived in Patagonia! After a 4 hour flight from Santiago with 2 stops! (that is, 3 take offs and 3 landings! solide!).

We are in a town called Punta Arenas, which is the most Southern Town of the South American continent.

First impressions are that it´s quite cold down here, at least compared to Santiago… When we landed it must have been about 10 degrees outside.

Also, one striking difference here is the fact that the sun sets around 10pm! It really feels like night falls really late, which gives the feeling to be active until late too.

The town itself looks almost like a town you would find in North America, in some place like Winnipeg or something. The infrastructure is very American and there aren´t that many things to do, really.

This is the view from the City, it overseas the Straight of Magellan, with in the background La Tierra del Fuego. Quite impressive scenery. In the South (right of this picture) we could see the Andes, still under the snow!

Anyway, tomorrow we will go and climb our first mountain, so that should be fun. Tonight, time for sleep in our lovely Oasis ´Hostal´. Buena noche!
