Tuk Tuk

Story

Ah, tuk tuks, they are our friends! NOT! At first you think that it might be cool to take a tuk-tuk in Thailand, but after talking to people in the hostels and in the bars you realise it might not be such a good idea after all!

Their aim is to charge you very small money to take you around – which is cool – except that they will actually take you AROUND! They’ll take you to jewellers, tailor shops, electronics shops, etc etc etc. The best thing to do is to agree on a price to get somewhere – for instance, we went to the night bazaar in the South of the city and agreed it would cost 250Bahts (which, by the way, is a LOT more expensive than a taxi, but the experience of the heat and the fumes from the street is incredible!).

Don’t be fooled, tuk-tuks are cool but be weary of being dragged along to all the shops where the driver will get commission. That said, they do look and sound cool!
